Hello WMBW Daters,
This is just a reminder that the primary purpose of this site is for dating, so please keep this in mind when you create your profiles. In other words, this isn't going to work if it's only a few people interacting and a bunch of people lurking with skeleton profiles. I understand the desire for privacy, but profiles are only viewable to other members. It's also not really fair to sign up to get access to profile information of other people that you don't want to disclose yourself. "Here for voyeurism" is not an option.
If I see a profile with no photograph and only the bare minimum of information, it makes me suspicious the profile is not legitimate, is for a spammer or some such. If this describes your profile, I will probably be declining it. I will also automatically decline your profile if you include your last name in your profile.

A few basics:
Photographs
We exist in the real world so it's only natural that people would want to see what you look like in the real world. A picture is worth more than a thousand words. If you have no photograph, but describe yourself in your profile, it probably won't provide an accurate image of what you look like in the mind of the person reading it. But it probably will make people wonder why you don't have a photograph.
Your photograph must be of yourself. Not your friend, not your hand or the bottom third of your face, not some random person on the web, not David Beckham or Naomi Campbell or any other celebrity. None of these are appropriate for a dating site.
Feel free to share your pictures on the main page, but just remember that these photographs are viewable by the general public so don't post anything you wouldn't want non-members to see.
Lastly, absolutely no nudity or lewd images.
Content
What do you want to see when reading someone else's profile? Keep those things in mind when you are completing your profile. Certain demographic information is a necessity and that is why it has been marked as required. Hopefully some day soon an advance search option will be integrated into the site so people can actually search by age, location, interests, etc. It would help to actually have that information stored in the profiles!
See Todd's profile for a very witty and excellent example of a profile 'Do'. I know not everyone is that creative, so you can also try the reverse laundry list approach used by John. Think about all the qualities you posses that you think are most appealing and most important. When I say "most important" this isn't restricted to things that are flattering. You don't have to be negative, but if something is a big deal and might make you incompatible with a fair number of people, you might want to say that. For instance, if you are deathly allergic to animals commonly kept as pets, that is probably something important to list.
